The Round One Standings are Up . . .

Current Standings

Round One is Over . . .

All in all not a very exciting 1st Round. Only two double digit seeds are left in the tournament, Winthrop and VCU. Frankly, VCU is not that much of a surprise either.

Day two was a little more exciting with Virginia Tech making a impressive late game comeback to edge Illinois, while Oregon survived a late upset bid from Miami (OH).

The Current Standings will be posted very soon.

My Hokies Squeak by Illinois

A Little Humor from Day One . . .

Introducing Duke's Greg Paulus and how NOT to take a "charge" (thanks to the Duke Basketball Blog)

Day One is in the Books!

Day one of the NCAA Tournament has come and gone. I'm sure I'll remember much about it. Kinda boring really. The VCU upset of Duke was the exception. The rest of the games were really ho hum and mostly blowouts.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring more of the Madness this tournament stakes its reputation on.

BTW, you can now check out the Current Standings after day one.

Here's another look at how VCU finished off the dookies:

Homer has now made his picks . . .

Not to be outdone by his housemate, the MadnessMonkey, Homer has put his picks together. As you can see from his picks, he goes waaaay out on a limb. But that's what he does every year.

So, now you can judge your performance against two standards:

  1. The advanced coin-flipping technology of the Monkey.
  2. Homer's advanced method of ALWAYS picking the higher seed.
Now, let's see how you do! Game on.

We are up to 60 entries!!

Keep them coming . . .

The play-in game is over and now the field of 64 teams is set!!

Congrats to Niagara for the 77-69 victory over Florida AM

I should also send congrats to the Rattlers also. NPR did a good story on them last week. That team and their coach seem to be doing the right things, the right way. Good luck to them next year!!

Remember, the fun starts tomorrow. By Sunday evening, we'll have the Sweet 16.

The Monkey has made his picks!

Using the very latest in coin-flipping technology, the Madness Monkey has made his selections.

He has picked Georgia Tech to win it all. Now don't laugh too loudly. The Monkey has picked the champion before!! So, come on and join to see if YOU can "Beat the Monkey!"

Sincerely,
MM Admin and Cheif Trainer, Madness Monkey
